Kamalanagar, the 15th September 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), led by Shri Durjya Dhan Chakma, Former CEM & District President, along with Shri Molin Kumar Chakma, Former CEM, CADC, and Shri Purna Muni Chakma, Treasurer, BJP, CADC, has submitted a representation to the Engineer-in-Chief, Power & Electricity Department, Government of Mizoram, Aizawl, regarding the sudden and abnormal hike in electricity bills in Kamalanagar Town, the headquarters of CADC.
The representation highlights that many households and institutions in Kamalanagar Town area have received inflated bills, in some cases increasing five to eighty times higher than the normal charges. Shockingly, a few consumers were issued bills as high as ₹47,000, which has caused severe distress to the residents.
The BJP, CADC, has demanded:
1. An immediate inquiry into the abnormal electricity bill hike.
2. Exemption of all abnormal bills within Kamalanagar Town area.
The people of Kamalanagar Town are deeply affected, and we urge the concerned authority to take swift corrective measures to provide relief at the earliest.
