New Delh, September 14, 2025: The All India Chakma Students’ Union (AICSU) has unanimously appointed Dangu Drishya Muni Chakma, a two-term former President of the Arunachal Pradesh Chakma Students’ Union (APCSU) as its new President.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of AICSU held today under the chairmanship of Senior Vice President Bipul Chakma. The meeting was attended by the presidents of the Tripura Chakma Students’ Association (TCSA), Central Mizoram Chakma Students’ Union (CMCSU), APCSU, representatives of affiliated student bodies, and current office bearers and advisors of AICSU.
The leadership change follows a formal request by outgoing President Dr. Shyamal Bikash Chakma, who appealed to be relieved from his post due to increasing professional, social, and personal commitments.
In a statement, AICSU expressed its “deepest gratitude” to Dr. Shyamal Bikash Chakma for his contributions and exemplary leadership during his tenure. The Union said it looks forward to his continued guidance and support in the future.
The meeting reaffirmed AICSU’s commitment to safeguard the rights, welfare, and unity of Chakma students across India. Leaders said the appointment of Drishya Muni Chakma marks “a new chapter in the Union’s journey,” inspired by the vision and sacrifices of past leaders and determined to strengthen the collective voice of Chakma students at the national level.
