Aizawl, December 29, 2025: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the final results of the Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2025. Out of all candidates on the All India Merit List, 473 men and 62 women have qualified. Among the male candidates, Jacob Lalchhanhima from Khatla topped with an impressive rank of 205. Following the exam, he will undergo training at the Officers’ Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai, where 49 men and 11 women will be trained. Upon completing the training, they will be commissioned as Lieutenants in the Indian Army.
Jacob Lalchhanhima, son of Ngurpuilura (L) and Lalhmingliani Sailo, hails from Khatla, Chawnga Road. He completed his schooling from Class 8 to 12 at Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun. Later, he graduated with a BA in Political Science from Govt. Hrangbana College, Aizawl, in 2023. Aspiring to join the Indian Army, he prepared for the CDS Examination without attending coaching, relying on his self-study and determination.
The CDS selection process involved a rigorous written examination conducted by UPSC, followed by the Services Selection Board (SSB) assessment and a mandatory Medical Fitness Test. Jacob Lalchhanhima is noted for his discipline, dedication, and exemplary character, and his achievement has brought pride to the state of Mizoram.
