In one case, a customer’s bill showed a negative charge of Rs. – 353 while another was handed a bill of over Rs. 30,000, which included arrears of nearly Rs. 29,722.

The sudden spike and irregularities sparked concern among locals, who immediately sought answers from the Power & Electricity Department.
Speaking to NEWS CADC, Mr. Proti Moy Chakma, In-Charge, JE, explained that the issue stemmed from the department’s recent shift to a computerized billing system. He said all consumers bill data had sent to the Bungtlang ‘S’ Power Sub Division as part of a digitisation. However, after the process, several bills were found to contain errors. “The department itself was shocked to see such mistakes.
