Kamalanagar, 29th December, 2025: Dg. Rasik Mohan Chakma, MLA of 36-Tuichawng (ST) Assembly Constituency, on Tuesday visited the Community Health Centre (CHC) Chawngte along with leaders of the CDMNF party and donated ₹1 lakh to the CHC Poor Fund to support economically disadvantaged patients.
The MLA has been contributing ₹1 lakh annually to the Poor Fund from his MLA-LAD Fund since last year, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening grassroots healthcare services in the region.
During the visit, Dg. Chakma interacted with doctors, nurses and other medical staff, appreciating their services and stressing the need to create greater public awareness about the availability of the Poor Fund so that more needy patients can benefit. He also expressed his intent to explore the possibility of setting up a medicine bank at CHC Chawngte to ensure timely access to essential medicines for poor patients.
Several issues were raised during the interaction, including discrepancies related to APL and BPL cards and the need for improved infrastructure in the maternity ward. Taking note of the concerns, the MLA assured that he would pursue the matters with the concerned authorities. He also contacted the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Lawngtlai, seeking priority attention for CHC Chawngte to address its pressing needs.
